Lucy at 18 months.

Weight: 22.4 lbs (20th percentile)
Length: 32.48 in (70th percentile)
Head: 18 in (25th percentile)

So basically Lucy is growing like a weed, and has *luckily* not inherited my giant head.

The doctor didn't bug me about her speech, either- he was too busy being impressed by her signing. (Insert sigh of relief here.) Luckily Lucy was on her A-game today and signed several phrases for him- including "help-ball-please," as she reached for the ball on his desk.

Lucy really is impressive with all those signs. It was good to see you guys the other day!

The part about the giant head made me laugh! Hunter and I BOTH have giant heads, and poor Eleanor did inherit it...hers is in the 95th percentile. I bought her a 24 month shirt and she wore it all of 2 times before I stopped being able to get it over her head.

Those signs really are impressive! I bet her speech is going to explode one day out of nowhere because she's been taking it all in. Believe me, after teaching a foreign language for years I've seen how some kids just start speaking right away and some take a long time absorbing and understanding (which Lucy is obviously doing) before one day they just start producing.

awesome! Go Lucy!

Does she have some words? Sam has about 10 that come and go as he learns new ones. Unfortunately the signing has come and gone too. I am calming my worry by knowing that he is very busy learning other skills and he'll have sentences in no time.

Jenny- Thanks! I'm glad we were able to get the kids together, and to visit as well.

Beth- LOL about the giant heads! I'm hoping that what you wrote about the language explosion is true for us, and Lucy surprises us with it sometime soon.

Ida- Lucy says, "Mama," "Dada," "Baba," and variations of those words. She applies them to the correct person as well. She also has said "hi" and something that sounds like, "dance." But that's pretty much it. I've told myself I'm not going to worry until she turns 2 and hasn't shown more development verbally.
