Why do they call it morning sickness if it lasts all day?

I know the term "morning sickness" is a misnomer. In fact, I knew that before I ever became pregnant. What I didn't realize is that (for me anyways), it's not like in the movies. That is, I'm not fine most of the day and then randomly struck by nausea. Instead I go through the day with a constant sick feeling. Yay. Have you ever pondered what to eat for dinner, only to realize that absolutely nothing sounds appetizing? By the way, this just struck me this weekend. I could kick myself for all the times I said, "No, I haven't been sick yet!" Guess I didn't knock on wood hard enough!

So...has anyone tried any of the homeopathic remedies out there? I've heard of some people having success with Preggie Pops, but I'm curious as to whether anyone else has any luck with other treatments as well. I have a feeling that my inability to eat much of anything is only contributing to the tiredness I feel. All suggestions are appreciated :-)

Oh, and I (finally) get to go see the midwife on Wednesday. I can't wait for the first glimpse of Baby Nolan!

I had it last time and just a tiny bit early on with this one. The Preggie Pop Drops worked for me, but I don't think most people understand that they work in a limited way because there is no medicine in them. I still threw up sometimes. I really like my Psi Bands. They are like Sea Bands, but they're adjustable and provide much stronger pressure on the Nei-Kuan point. I don't know if it was in my head or if they actually worked, but they did help. Carey, my midwife, also recommended just forcing myself to eat high-protein foods regularly. Morning sickness can be a cycle and it's worse when your blood sugar drops from not eating (because nothing sounded good, like you said). I ate yogurt, soy nuts, and protein shake type stuff the first several weeks so I'd never be sick from just being hungry. I even got up in the middle of the night to eat snacks so I wouldn't wake up sick. Carey also said acupuncture works, but I didn't need it.

So you are having an ultrasound Wednesday? I have to wait until almost 20 weeks for mine. It's not really a big deal, but I would like to see the baby.

I hope the morning sickness passes soon!

Saltines and ginger ale or sprite worked for me. I never had any severe sickness (throwing up), but I had some mild nausea and those helped.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies!
I was able to track down some Sea Bands at CVS (really didn't feel like ordering the Psi Bands and waiting for them to get here) and they have helped some. Since I'm not throwing up, I am able to force down a little food at a time, just not anything close to full meals. I have found that sprite settles with me better than ginger ale, and hard pretzels are a life saver. I'll be sleeping with them by the bed, also.

The Preggie Pops really helped me when I was doing something that aggravated the morning sickness (riding in a car, flying in a plane, on a boat, etc). But I did not find them do great for day-to-day sickness.

I think you just have to try whatever sounds good. For me at times it was things like flat coke (really, that helped) or sucking on those soft peppermint sticks (they sell at Cracker Barrell). One thing that works for you might not for someone else. But do try to eat even just a little, as unappetixing as it is. Empty stomach = more icky feelings = less desire to eat = more nausea, etc.

Yippy. I'm hoping for V. But a little Irene would be cool too.
